Exporting 3D ModelsThere was a comment on our blog recently that asked whether or not it’s possible to use a 3D Design package like the Autodesk Maya 3D Animation software to create 2D Animations. This is entirely possible and the workflow is used widely in 2D video game development. The basic workflow consists of creating your model in your 3D modeling software (Maya, Blender, 3DS Max, etc.), setting up the views that you want, figuring out your animation, and rendering out each frame as separate image files. In the below video, I go into this workflow and show how you can take a 3D animation, render each frame into a separate image, and bring those images into the GameSalad 2D Game Engine to animate a character in-game.
