Autodesk is releasing AutoCAD for Mac and a free mobile application called AutoCAD WS for Apple’s iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. AutoCAD WS is a file reader and editor for DWG drawings. This free app will make it easier for architects and engineers to share and collaborate on files created by either the PC or the new Mac version. Design firms can now bring their iOS device to customer sites instead of their paper drawings.

Why Mac? Why Now? In recent years, Apple has become one of the most valuable technology companies in the world. With their integrated ecosystem and vision including the iPad, iPhone, iPod and the new Apple TV, Apple has created customer loyalty and a user experience, unmatched in the industry. The intuitive interface and context-sensitive help function in AutoCAD for Mac, will greatly assist to reduce the learning curve.

With AutoCAD WS, you can view and edit DWG files using any web browser on a PC or a Mac. Online storage capabilities will allow you to store thousands of files in your online workspace. You will see your drawing revision history on an interactive timeline. Installation of the plug-in within AutoCAD will keep your online files up-to-date.
