Ferrari World names finalists and Detroit’s College for Creative Studies is one of them! Seven schools are now in the running for the Ferrari World Design Contest. This Italian car maker, in partnership with Autodesk as a sponsor and technical partner, launched the contest for international design schools. Announced in July 2011, the winner gets to be involved in planning future a Ferrari car, an internship lead by Flavio Manzoni and a cash prize.

Autodesk will also present an award to the student team that best uses Autodesk Alias software to communicate their design intent and demonstrate the process of design.  The Finalists are IED and IAAD from Italy; the London Royal College of Arts, United Kingdom; the European Design Institute Barcelona, Spain; Hong-ik College, in Seoul, South Korea; the DSK Supinfocom, from Pune, India; and the College For Creative Studies in Detroit, US. Next, these seven finalists need to produce three models each, both by using Autodesk computer software and physical models in a quarter scale, or 1:4.

The participants are asked to create a pure hypercar– ultra-modern, super-efficient and high-performance but geometric and organic in shape. All vehicles must be made with materials from the latest generation and fully functional in every aspect.
