So the big question is “What’s New with Media Composer 6.5?”.  Well, you’ve come to the right place!

Avid Media Composer 6.5 is heavily focused on creating efficiency when using multiple file formats, codecs & sources . This is achieve by utilizing a new open standard known as AS-02 and improving upon the Avid Media Access.

New Features:

  1. Version and archive finished sequences with AS-02 . AS-02 addresses the problem of having a common file format in a facility that has to handle many input formats and make many output formats.
  2. Export content using AMA. AMA makes it easy to access and modify file-based media without transcoding. Now you can use AMA to export files back to the media’s original source format for archiving or final delivery.
  3. Creation of master-quality archives using JPEG 2000. Encode and decode sequences—in mastering quality—using the JPEG 2000 codec, which helps preserve the highest quality of versioning and archival content in an AS-02 workflow.
  4. Open up your workflow with hardware release. With the new hardware release control, which works with Avid and third-party I/O hardware, you can activate/deactivate your hardware—without disconnecting it—to access software-only features, such as full screen playback mode and audio project settings options. You can also share your third-party hardware and monitor between Media Composer and other applications without closing or rebooting software. – Nice!
