National Instruments has released a great project for myDAQ that involves creating a Theramin. A theramin is considered the world’s oldest electric instrument. It was played by floating your hands in the air between two magnetic fields. As your hands disrupt the magnetic fields, tones are played accordingly. It was a rather difficult instrument to master but it was incredibly cool. Now you can make your own Theramin using myDAQ. You can find more information about the project here.

National Instruments has also released an iPad app called LabVIEW Intro. It is to be used as a beginner’s guide to graphical programming concepts found in LabVIEW. The app does not allow you to build virtual instruments. It only helps you to understand the concepts behind doing so. You can find the app here.

While on the topic of apps, National Instruments has also released a DAQ Device Pinouts app for Android and iOS. The app gives you easy access to device pinouts for NI DAQ hardware. You are able to view pinouts for any NI DAQ device. Best of all; the app is free and can be found here. There is also a great informational sheet, a myDAQ how-to guide, from UC Berkley.
