Virtual Robotics Competition OTSC 2012
Members of Studica’s Canadian office are currently attending the Ontario Technological Skills Competition in Waterloo, Ontario. This the largest skilled trades competition in Canada with approximately 1900 students competing. Continue reading
Mississauga VEX Robotics Championship
This year there was a VEX Robotics competition right around the corner from the Ontario office of Studica Limited. Rick Hansen Secondary School hosted the Mississauga VEX Robotics Championship on 25 February and with the help of teacher John Hobbins and his excellent group of volunteers the event was an outstanding success. Science Teacher’s Association of Ontario Conference 2011
Studica launched the product throughout this year in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and the Eastern Provinces. The ability to pick up the Fourier Line of Data Loggers and use them immediately was a very strong plus for many teachers and their students. Continue reading

Ontario Autodesk Digital Steam Workshop – McMaster University
Autodesk’s Digital STEAM Workshop was a success, and showed the participants the scope and potential of this free Autodesk Curriculum. Autodesk’s Digital STEAM Curriculum is a project based teaching tool which allows teachers to focus on the instruction of key concepts. Key concepts covered in today’s workshop included design for Urban Farming, Urban Planning and Transit infrastructure, and Thermal cooling properties involved in the design of structures. National Instruments Hardware and Software in Ontario’s Energy SHSM
I was able to use hardware from the Fischertechnik Oeco Tech Renewable Energies Kit to construct the Solar Array, complete with DC Motor. The solar tracker is a part of this kit, and comes with graphical instructions for assembly and wiring. With this, I was able to add two Light Sensors and design a simple system for control using LabVIEW. Continue reading
