It is that time of year again already. The time to begin preparing for another busy and exciting VEX Robotics Competition season. Competitions have already begun using the 2012-2013 VEX Game and many teams have begun prototyping for the new competition year.
This year’s game, Sack Attack, involves ninety eight green Sacks and four gold Bonus Sacks, four Trough goals, four floor goals, and one high goal. The object of the game is to out score the other alliance by placing sacks in the correct coloured goals. View Full details at VEX website.
VEX also has some exciting new options for this year’s robots. The VEX Speaker Module allows the output of sounds from the Cortex Microcontroller. The new Integrated Encoder Modules replace the encoders on the 2-Wire motors, and the Advanced Mechanics and Motions Kit offers a multitude of new ways to enhance your robots field of movement and motion. The VEX Mecanum Wheels, which were just beginning to appear at the end of last year’s competition will be much more prevalent this year, with their enhanced ability to move in any direction.
