M1050006Today marks the second official day of the Mobile Robotics Competition at WorldSkills 2015 in São Paulo, Brazil. Each team of two, from the 23 different countries competing, will be asked to build, program and troubleshoot their own robotic designs, which will then be required to fulfill tasks commonly demonstrated in manufacturing settings. This is a perfect example of STEM knowledge being showcased in a real world setting.M1050003

The first round of the Mobile Robotics Competition started today, in São Paulo from 11:00 to 16:00 (UTC). Onlookers that went by the Mobile Robotics arena today were able to see test practices for ten robots within the five different evaluations spaces set up yesterday. Another impressive display of STEM in action. Teams spent today constructing their robotic designs before they begin the programming phase of the competition. The host country’s team, Brazil, was more than happy to demonstrate their robotic design earlier in the day.

Yesterday, we talked a little bit about the WorldSkills Digital Challenge. This is the first challenge of its kind and it incorporates working with local organization to tackle a real-world project that will have a lasting effect on Brazil.
