Features of Pixologic™ ZBrush® 4R7
ZBrush® 4R7 is the final iteration within the ZBrush® 4 series before Pixologic™ moves to ZBrush® 5.0. As with the previous point releases, it doesn’t simply make a few minor changes but rather is packed with major additions. In fact, 4R7 is one of the most extensive releases since ZBrush® 4 came out.
ZBrush® 4R7 introduces the ZModeler. This brush smart polygonal modeling system is designed to simplify your creation process. Quickly and dynamically create new shapes, doing so more easily than ever before (fuse polygons, delete full blocks of geometry, connect parts with advanced paths and repeat your actions with a single click). You can refine the shape of your model in real-time to revolutionize how you create hard surface models, architectural structures or highly detailed environments.
- Instances and Details
The new NanoMesh and Array Mesh features bring more complexity and detail to your work, while still maintaining a low polygon count. Both these features will allow for multiple instances of any object to be created and then adjusted in a matter of seconds.
- NanoMesh allows you to populate areas of a model with instanced geometry. These instances can then be modified in real-time to generate different scale, offset and angle for each instance.
- Array Mesh is an advanced array system in ZBrush® that will allow you to create duplicate instances of geometry in varying patterns and shapes.
- ZBrush® to KeyShot
The KeyShot for ZBrush® Bridge changes your Best Preview Render (BPR) button to instead send your models to KeyShot with a single click. All associated data transfers automatically, including materials, displaced geometries, procedural noise, PolyPaint or textures — and of course the new NanoMesh and Array Mesh. If ZBrush® can display it, KeyShot can render it! The KeyShot for ZBrush edition is based on KeyShot HD functionality except for two points: It can only communicate with ZBrush® (no importing from other packages) and there are no restrictions on rendering size.
- 64-Bit Support
Push the boundaries of your imagination with the ZBrush® 4R7 64-bit Preview Edition*. ZBrush® can now tap all available computer memory and processing power for more details, even more complex models and faster operations.
- ZRemesher 2.0
Retopologizing has never been as artist-friendly as with ZRemesher 2.0. With a single click, you can automatically produce organic or hard surface topology without spirals. If one-click topology isn’t the right answer for every situation, you can intuitively take control of the re-topology process with curves to assist in determining polygon flow.
- Render with Complete Details – Surface Noise
BPR Render system will now render all Surface Noise as displacement, deforming the mesh to match the attributes of any procedurally created noise. It is like having a displacement map without needing to actually create the map. See extremely detailed results at render time regardless of polygon count.
- FBX Import/Export
To continue improving its integration with the artist’s pipeline, ZBrush® 4R7 introduces a new free plugin: FBX Import Export. This supports texture, normal and displacement maps, blendshapes, smoothing based on normals and much more.
- Other Enhancements and Additions
Replay Last can now be reapplied to any portion of the model.
Background images applied with the Grid system can now be projected onto your model for a painted guide in your newest creations.
Start any sculpt with the new polygonal Cube, Sphere and Cylinder primitives.
Automatically center the TransPose line on any unmasked, partially visible or symmetrical piece of geometry with one click.
Copy and Paste between Tools, SubTools and even Projects.
Now hold Shift to switch on Dynamic Draw Size to avoid accidentally turning it on.

Studica delivered everything I needed for to activate zBrush in less than 24 hours. The discounted price helped me a very notable amount of money. The only issues I encountered was that payment would not go through on Google chrome, so I had to use Microsoft "edge".
Fast and great price

As a begginer

So far, I liked Zbrush very much. It gave me possibilities to build models that, I used to worry about quality and time I spend.
Fantastic Art and 3D software

ZBrush is a fantastic piece of kit, worth every penny.
Everything I expected it to be.
by Jeremy Lowe on June 10, 2016
There is absolutely NO doubt in my mind as to why this is the industry standard when it comes to modeling software. Steep learning curve - if you are not ready to spend a few hours a day watching tutorials or reading about how to use this program for at least the first week or two, be warned: Zbrush WILL defeat you - It is not beginner-friendly. Luckily, Pixologic has you covered with classroom videos.

So I had a problem with a license not sending but upon calling customer service I got everything figured out in less than 5 minutes. Got everything I expected.
Great price and service

After looking around for a while after my trial ran out. I found Zbrush on Studica for an awesome price. I was a little skeptic on the pricing. Though after purchasing the software, I did not receive it right away because it was the weekend. If you want the software quicker, you will need to purchase on the weekdays or regular business days. Other than that the software works great and is definitely the most updated version. If you are on the fence about purchasing it on here, don't be. I believe this is a great place to start if you are beginning to learn the software.
Scared to buy Retail ZBrush from Studica? I was! I thought there was some kind of a trick or features removed for the $150 price difference.
by Paul A. on April 12, 2016
I shopped for ZBrush for about 3 months. All I ever found was the $799.00 price tag. Since I work for the University of Texas at Austin, I thought to checkout the Academic pricing for ZBrush on Studica. As I was looking through there price list, I found a retail version listed for $650.00. At first I thought there must be some restriction or some of the features have been removed or some other got-you. So I kept looking. Then one day I was searching at the ZBrush site for authorized dealers and found that Studica was in the list. I was surprised. So I went back to their web site and keep looking to see what was missing from the ZBrush package. I mean for $150 difference something must be amiss. Finally, I thought they are authorized dealers so if I use a charge card and they jack me around, I can go to the ZBrush people and complain. So I started to purchase it from them. I put in my cart and the first thing that pops-up is that I won't get the download immediately. I thought something is fishy here and aborted the purchase. Over the next week or so, the $150 savings kept nagging me. So after thinking it over, I went back put it in the cart and purchased it. I was concerned abut spending the $650 which is a significant amount to me. So I get an invoice email that I purchased it. I thought so what, were is my product. How do I download it. Have I tied up my $650 in some black hole paperwork factory. I called the service number. The Studica rep tells me that the ZBrush (Pixologic) folks had received the order and would contact me with the download info. Sure enough about an hour later in comes all the download and activation information from the ZBrush people. I downloaded it, installed it and am now using it. It is the full version directly from Pixologic. It has everything that the $799.00 purchase has. I saved $150 Bucks. It was a little scary. Studica does not give you a lot details about the steps you can expect when purchasing from them but in the end it all worked out great. I had my full commercial (retail) ZBrush 4R7 up and running within about 4 hours and I saved $150. Now, if I could just find a great deal on a Wacom Cintiq 13HD, I would have it made in the shade.

There is nothing that zbrush couldn't do. Making digital models is super easy after you learn the basics of this program. Retopo tools could be better, but they'll do the trick.

As with all 3D software there is a hefty learning curve, and you've got to knuckle down and go through the tutorials, but the rewards are there. It is an amazing bit of software.

Industry standard for a reason
by Frank on February 26, 2015
I've been learning 3D sculpting to see if it was for me, before making the commitment to ZBrush. While it does have a learning curve, it is amazing! I have 4R7 and the feature set is way more than you'll ever need. If you are serious about modeling for games, movies, organic or hard surface, then ZBrush is what I would highly recommend!
Pixologic ZBrush 4R6 is great!
by Catherine D. on February 02, 2015
I recently bought the Pixologic ZBrush 4R6 (I will be able to update it to 4R7 soon, which is another bonus) and I think it is great! It didn't take too long to download and works fast. I did get a special SSD drive for it though. The interface is easy to read and with the download came some instruction files on how to get started, which was a great help. There are a lot of tutorials on the internet too. I have never worked with a 3D program, so it is a steep learning curve and I will probably get a book on ZBrush for easy referral as there is no 'help' button in the program. But the possibilities are limitless!

Wow! I am just a humble hobbyist coming from mudbox. I have taken the time to learn zbrush and it is like a huge vast new and exciting world. To say i have enjoyed it so far is an understatement.
