Paddle Boat
In Leonardo da Vinci's time, nautical expedition was the most expedient method of communicating with the world. Da Vinci brought forth plans for a boat with large wheel-shaped paddles that would propel it through water. Da Vinci looked to nature when designing many of his inventions. He based the paddle boat on the shapes and movement of fish. The tapered prow allowed the vessel to maneuver easily. Sailors worked the pedals to turn the rotating paddles allowing the boat to move rapidly over water.
