WorldSkills Mobile Robotics Supplier2015 is certainly bringing big things to Studica, which we can’t wait to share with you. Recently, we were recognized as the official sponsor of the WorldSkills Mobile Robotics Competition for 2015 in Sao Paulo, Brazil and 2017 in Dubai, UAE. Studica is bringing the excitement and motivation of an international robotics competition to students, educators and hobbyists worldwide.

As an official supplier, Studica is providing a WorldSkills Mobile Robotics kit to teams competing in 25 countries around the world. National Instruments will be serving as a co-sponsor for the event, providing support with the myRIO and LabVIEW – used as the controller for your robotic creations. This kit includes everything you need to showcase your skills and innovation in designing, building and programming your robot. But, should need an extra bracket or spacer here and there, Studica also offers additional components from our very own “Robot Zone.” Robot Zone offers schools, students and hobbyists robotic components ready for competition.

WorldSkills Mobile Robotics Competition Challenge

Participants in this year’s WorldSkills Mobile Robotics Competition will be expected to assemble, set-up, manage and maintain mechanical systems within a mobile robot. They will also be asked to install, operate and trouble shoot mobile robot control systems.

worldskills challengeCompetitors will be expected to carry out two tasks over four days of the Competition using robotics. The tasks will focus on the programming of robots to carry out different sequences in two different arenas. Aside from programming, participants have to test and adjust sensor values and parameters, assemble and connect peripheral equipment, and make final test runs. In the event of hardware malfunctions, teams are expected to be able to troubleshoot and repair hardware and connections.

Robot Zone: Learn to Build

worldskills roboticsRobot Zone is a great place to delve into components for schools and students interested in getting involved in regional and national robotic competitions. Schools participating in For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) or VEX Robotics Competitions will find that many of the most common robotics components found here are more affordable and accessible.

From beginners to advanced robotic engineers, Robot Zone has components to build simple and complex functioning robots. Pave your way to the WorldSkills Mobile Robotics Competition by experimenting with robotics. WorldSkills competitors also benefit from having competition-ready components at their disposal when you misplaced that much needed gear mount.

Robotics Benefits and Enhanced Skills

The growth of robotics in schools is certainly no surprise to us. There are many benefits that robotic engineering offers, not least of which is introducing students to developing technology. The WorldSkills Mobile Robotics Competition is designed to strengthen the following skills:

  • Mechanical and electronic development
  • Sensor and drive technology
  • Programming
  • Basic mathematics
  • Reading and Comprehension
  • Problem-solving
  • Team work
