As PANTONE explains, the “Color of the Year”selection is a very thorough process.  To determine the winning color Pantone literally searches the globe for color influences. This includes films, art collections, travel destinations, pop culture, up and coming artists etc. Influences may also come from technology, considering new textures & effects that impact color, and many other factors. This year they have selected PANTONE^® 17-5641 Emerald, a lively, radiant, lush green, as the Color of the Year for 2013.

To celebrate Emerald Color of the Year, Pantone is offering Emerald in their Pantone Universe Collection of accessories like coasters, coffee mugs, teapots and more.

“Green is the most abundant hue in nature — the human eye sees more green than any other color in the spectrum,” commented Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute – Executive Director,  “It’s also the color of growth, renewal and prosperity — no other color conveys regeneration more than green. For centuries, many countries have chosen green to represent healing and unity.”

So be prepared to be very envious in 2013, we already are seeing greens all over the NY runways and even showing up in concept cars such as GMs newly introduced Camaro ZL1 Convertible.
