Pantone recently added 336 new Pantone colors to its existing Pantone Plus series!

This addition brings the Pantone Plus Series to a total of 1,677 colors. Wow – that’s one chubby rainbow! Not only that, it takes the worldwide standard for accurate color communication to an even higher level of accuracy.

Introduced in 2010, the Pantone Plus Series is the latest generation of the Pantone Matching Series (PMS). The Plus Series provides an accurate way for designers to communicate and control color during the entire design process.

The new colors breathe life and add depth to the Plus series color library with fresh new hues that did not exist previously. The Plus Series Color library continues to demonstrate the technical improvements in the area of ink film consistency and coatability most notably with the latest 336 colors which can be reproduced by printers worldwide.

It’s pretty awesome that by having the physical product in students’ hands it helps them  learn the importance of color and color accuracy and how it ties in to desktop publishing applications.  In addition, Pantone is the international standard so it gives everyone a chance to have a real-world experience in education.
