Autodesk Maya AnimationAutodesk recently released the Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite Ultimate 2013. This new suite offers a host of advanced professional design and animation creation software titles including; Autodesk Maya 2013 and 3ds Max 2013 combined with Mudbox 2013 – Autodesk’s painting and sculpting software. Plus the ECS offers MotionBuilder 2013 , A real-time virtual production and motion capturing software, and Sketchbook Designer 2013, which is a new offering from Autodesk to aid in the creation of concept art. This new Entertainment Creation Suite 2013 also includes Softimage 2013 , an animation and visual effects tool.  The Autodesk Entertainment Creation Suite Ultimate 2013 Student has really taken strides to optimize workflows and the handling of various digital assets within each software title allowing you to take advantage of each title’s professional features. Autodesk offers students and teachers this non-watermarked version of software at deep discounts. These advancements are most apparent in the best new features highlighted below:

  • Live Character Streaming between Maya and Motion Builder –With version 2013 you can take an Autodesk HumanIK character from MotionBuilder to Maya and create a live streaming connection. So if you apply an animation to a character in MotionBuilder the same animation is then applied to your character in Maya.  This allows you to more efficiently visualize a retargeting result without having to transfer the final data.
  •  Direct Compositor link to After Effects from 3ds Max – Motion Graphics Artists can now create a live connection to Adobe After Effects CS6 from within the slate compositing editor. With this live connection you can send footage and render passes, and offer a two way connection for lights, cameras, and solids. So for every edit you make to lights, cameras, and solids from within Adobe After Effects are sent in real time to 3ds Max and vice versa.  Learn more about the new features in Autodesk’s 3ds Max 2013.
  •  Maya 2013 nHair makes realistic hair movement easier to create – Maya nHair is realistic curve-based hair simulator built upon Autodesk’s existing nucleus framework.  nHair allows you to easily recreate realistic hair movement.  Autodesk’s nucleus is their unified simulation framework, so what this means to you is that nHair can be used to interact with other modules such as nCloth and nParticles. •  New CrowdFX feature allows for sophisticated crowd simulations in Softimage 2013 – Now, within a dedicated environment, you can create massively complex effects with huge numbers of characters utilizing Autodesk’s ICE multithreaded particle system, thus allowing you to create crowds of characters which interact with each other and their environment realistically. Once created these crowds can even be exported top pre-existing scenes in Maya. This feature is truly amazing and is demonstrated in this video.
