Our coverage of WorldSkills has mainly focused on the mobile robotics and a few other skill competitions. However, there is so much going on at WorldSkills. The size and scope of this professional education event is massive. This professional education event really is the largest in the world. There are 46 different skill competitions at WorldSkills 2015. They are broken down into six main categories:

  • Construction and Building Technology
  • Creative Arts and Fashion
  • Information and Communication Technology
  • Manufacturing and Engineering Technology
  • Social and Personal Services
  • Transportation and Logistics

This WorldSkills event has been filled with talent. Today has been no different. As competitions continue contestants are shining. Some of the highlights of today include the impressive work in the  Architectural Stonemasonry competition. Wall and Floor Tiling Competitors showed promising work., Visual Merchandising and Window Dressing contestants were busy on their projects. Cabinetmaking Competitors showed strong attention to details and an eye for aesthetics. And of course, mobile robotics took our attention.

WorldSkills Mobile Robotics Update

WorldSkills Team CanadaToday at the WorldSkills Mobile Robotics competition competitors from 23 countries were busy with a set of test runs. The first test run took place early this morning. Based on the performance, they diagnosed any issues and worked to find solutions to their problem during the time provided. The teams that excelled among the pack were the Canadian team, the Korean Team and the Japan Team. They all had very strong performances. The Canadian teams’ mobile robot was the fastest, finishing with the fastest time of the day during their second run in the afternoon.
