Features of Lumion 9.x

Even though Lumion 9 does not offer users all of the same professional features found in Lumion 9 Pro, it still includes many tools to allow you to create incredible architectural visualizations. This is a great introduction to Lumion, but don't take our word for it - take a look at the comprehensive features included below!

New Features

Sky Light:

Sky Light is an advanced, daylight simulator for softening and dispersing the scene’s environmental lighting. Used in combination with Soft Shadows and Fine Detail Shadows, it strengthens the real-life interplay of these elements. Watch as the foliage and trees become photorealistic, and discover as people, buildings and landscapes suddenly look like they belong where they are.

Lean scene-building workflow:

The fastest rendering engine just got a boost into high gear. Natural and intuitive scene building. One-touch controls for quickly adding objects, materials, effects and more. From zero to beautiful render in record time.

Intuitive Object Placement:

Placing objects is now more intuitive, easier and faster. Smart object technology via easy-to-use hotkeys can help ensure the right object placement while saving you valuable time and streamlining your scene building processes.

Updated Import edges:

Take it to the edge. In Lumion 9, the edges of your models can be imported as separate material assignments. This way, you can easily create wire-frame models and highlight the outlines of interior and exterior geometry. Supports edges from SketchUp (.SKP & .DAE) + 2D lines from 3ds Max (.FBX & .MAX)

Updated OpenStreetMap:

Need urban context, fast? In Lumion 9, OpenStreetMap has gone through a major update to bring you higher quality city context at faster speeds than before.

New Content:

The Lumion content library – an invaluable resource for quickly realizing a rich and full visualization of your design. With Lumion 9, the library has been expanded to include a host of new trees, more character models, new lights, and much more.

The addition of new HD content provides objects that are more detailed, have sharper textures, and better surface shading, all with a focus on improving the realism of your designs. Lumion 9 offers 112 new realistic materials.

Lumion requires a computer with a fast graphics card with plenty of memory. Make sure you look at the requirements below before you buy or upgrade a computer for Lumion.

NOTE: Lumion and Lumion Pro require an internet connection.

Recommended System Requirements:

  • Graphics card: Minimum 8,000 PassMark points, 6GB memory or more and compatible with DirectX 11 or later. Click here to see how to select a graphics card for Lumion.
  • OS: 64-bit Windows 10
  • CPU: As high a GHz value as possible, ideally 4.0+ GHz. A lower GHz value may act as a bottleneck for fast graphics cards such as the Nvidia GTX 1080 and Nvidia Titan X (Pascal). More CPU cores than 4 will not make a difference. CPUs such as the i7-4790K, the i7-6700K or the i7-7700K with 4.0+ GHz are good choices. Xeon CPUs with GHz values lower than 3.4 GHz are not recommended.
  • System memory: 16GB or more with as high a MHz value as possible.
  • Monitor resolution: 1920x1080 pixels or higher.
  • Hard drive: 20GB of disk space
  • Power supply: Click here to see which power supply you need.

Minimum System Requirements:

  • Graphics card: Minimum 2,000 PassMark points, 2GB memory or more and compatible with DirectX 11 or later. Click here to see how to select a graphics card for Lumion.
  • OS: 64-bit Windows 10, 8.1, 7 Sp1 or Vista SP2
  • CPU: As high a GHz value as possible, ideally 3.0+ GHz. Less than 4.0 GHz may act as a bottleneck for fast graphics cards such as the GTX 1080 and Titan X (Pascal). More cores than 4 will not make a difference.
  • System memory: 8GB (for simple scenes) with as high a MHz value as possible.
  • Monitor resolution: Minimum 1600x1080 pixels.
  • Hard drive: 20GB of disk space
  • Power supply: Click here to see which power supply you need.

Will Lumion run on your laptop PC?
Lumion requires a PC with a fast NVIDIA or AMD graphics card with at least 2GB memory. If your laptop PC has a slow graphics card with less memory, or, if it only has an Intel HD graphics card, then your laptop PC is unsuitable for Lumion. The result will be graphics errors and driver crashes if you try to use Lumion. Please click here to see if you can run Lumion on your laptop PC.

  1. Great 3D rendering software

    by on

Lumion is an easy to use rendering software. The Pro Package offers more objects to use, additional useful features for lighting and glass, and has a beta Open Street Map application that could be useful in the future.
