    GameMaker for Education

Trusted by Educators, Loved by Students

GameMaker is the industry’s premier 2D game engine, used by thousands of developers every day to create indie classics like Undertale, Webbed, and BAFTA award-winning Chicory: A Colorful Tale.

The GameMaker engine uses its own coding language called GameMaker Language (GML). There are two versions of GML:

    • GML Visual lets you create your own game from pre-coded building blocks. Students can make a game in a matter of minutes, even before they’ve learned how to code.
    • GML Code allows you to write your own code and take full control of your creation. Students learn how to program their own games from scratch.

Please note: All educational resources and GameMaker features are available on every GameMaker Education subscription package. Educator and Achiever subscriptions add a wider range of export platforms.
