In just a few short weeks, teams from around the world will be making their way to Kazan, Russia. Prepared and ready to compete, these teams are determined to make WorldSkills Kazan 2019 the best yet. Over 1,300 participants from over 60 countries will participate in this 45th WorldSkills Competition. WorldSkills is dedicated to helping young people around the world by sharing the message that learning new skills can change your life and improve the world. In their own words, WorldSkills explains it like this “We raise the profile and recognition of skilled people, and show how important skills are in achieving economic growth.”

Skills on Parade in Kazan

This year, when the competition is in full swing from August 22nd to 27th. At the event, 56 different skill competitions representing six skill sectors will be showcased. These competitions give competitors a chance to shine by demonstrating their level of vocational training and education. The six skill sectors are:

1. Transportation & Logistics
2. Social & Personal Services
3. Manufacturing & Engineering Technology
4. Information & Communication Technology
5. Creative Arts & Fashion
6. Construction & Building Technology

As far as the skills competitions themselves, you’ll be blown away by the variety. There are competitions for Carpentry, Cabinetmaking, Floristry, 3D Digital Game Art, Cloud Computing, and Cyber Security. Plus, Mechatronics, Welding, CNC Milling, Hairdressing, Baking, Car Painting, Auto Body Repair, and more.

Studica is a WorldSkills Global Partner, responsible for the development of the authorized WorldSkills Mobile Robotics Competition Collection that is used by everyone competing in Mobile Robotics. As you can imagine, Studica is a bit partial to this particular skill competition.

As a strong supporter of Mobile Robotics, we wanted to take this opportunity to share some information about this important skill. The Mobile Robotics competition is included in the manufacturing and engineering technology skill sector.

Robots play more and more of a role in our everyday lives. You can find applications of mobile robotics in a variety of industries including aerospace, manufacturing, medicine, agriculture, and mining. To be successful, mobile robotics engineers need to possess capabilities in a variety of skill sets that include knowledge of computer programming, microprocessors, and logic. That’s not all, this increasingly important role also requires the ability to make the specifications for a robot’s capabilities and also give cost estimates, search for cost-efficient design options, and maintain quality.
