For many folks, summer means vacations and getaways and relaxation, but over here in the fischertechnik Division at Studica, things are really buzzing at the moment. We’ve got a big announcement coming literally any day that will be of MAJOR interest to anyone using fischertechnik in a middle school or high school classroom.  We’re eagerly awaiting the arrival of the brand new ‘Profi Car & Drives’ and ‘Profi Pneumatic 3’ sets from Germany. On top of all of this, we’ve also put together a couple of contests to challenge the creativity of fischertechnik fans, allow them to share their unique ideas with other fans, and win great fischertechnik prizes as well! And so, without further adieu, let me introduce our FIRST new contest for students …

The fischertechnik Young Builder’s Contest  2012—Create a Character!

(Open to any students ages 5 to 9 living within the United States and Canada)

This contest for students requires using only fischertechnik parts, build a character of any type or any size. The character can be modeled on an animal, a person, a cartoon or comic book character, or something of you own creation. There are no limits, as long as you character has some sort of features, such as eyes, legs, arms, etc…but you can decide how many they have. Our only requirement is that the model itself is your own original creation.

Just to give you an idea, here are two sample creations—a Japanese style ‘Lucky Cat’ and a scorpion, as seen on the website http://www.instructables.com

Once you’ve built your fun creation, just send us a clear digital photo of it (in either jpeg or tiff formats) or if it’s a model that moves, post a video to YouTube and send us a link. We will post all entries on StuTalk for voting. The entry with the most votes will win a fischertechnik Surprise Package, with a minimum retail value of $100!

Enter as many times as you like!  All entries must be received by December 14, 2012. To see complete details and to submit your entry, click here:

Next blog, I will share the details on our second contest…so until then, happy building!
