SumDog is ready for Back to School with the largest series of math contests America has seen. These contests are designed for students from first grade through eighth grade. All contest are aligned to meet common core state standards. Each contests generally requires a student to play for about an hour. This year SumDog has added a new twist to their math contests: all participating students will be awarded a cool Hollywood Heroes outfit as their character avatar. These are exclusive avatars that cannot be bought, they are only available to contestants.

Once you sign your class up for a SumDog math contest, your students will be able to complete by playing the strategically designed games. These games are absolutely free to play and can even be utilized after the contest is over. In 2012, more than 13,000 schools participated in Sumdog’s free contests. Students enjoy them because they are fun and exciting. Teachers and schools benefit because there is a noticable improvement in their students test scores.

How to Enter

There a few steps needed to begin, first of all both the school and the teacher need to create a free account with SumDog. Then you will have access to a full schedule of contest dates. There are both local and national contests that you can participate in. SumDog is able to adapt the contests to fit the students ability and offers the teachers the ability to only quiz students on items that only focus on the Common Core State standards for their grade level. Students are judged based on the amount of correct answers they give. Because school sizes vary so much, averages are used. There is a minimum of fifteen students per school required. Find out more.
