Unity has announced a major growth milestone in their quest to democratize game development.  After only one year, over 750,000 developers have now registered with Unity.

As well, the Asset Store, which began with fewer than 100 items last November, now has over 2,200 titles.  Unity reports over 50,000 registered store accounts, with some sellers earning thousands of dollars a month.  Mika Mobile just released Zombievielle USA 2, a sequel to one of its best-selling games.  Uberstrike, one of the first Unity games on Facebook just celebrated it first anniversary and it still goes strong.

Crescent Moon Games, makes one of my favorite Unity-powered games, Gears.  This physics-based 3D ball-roller puzzle game uses the iPhone or iPad’s accelerometer to navigate through worlds filled with traps, jumps and journeys in a world that never stays still. It’s a great example of how powerful Unity game development software can be for the iOS platform.
