Results: WorldSkills Online Mobile Robotics Challenge

Studica Robotics in partnership with WorldSkills International proudly conducted an Online Mobile Robotics Skills Challenge. As this is the “Year of Innovation”, this challenge helped students prepare and stay on track for the Mobile Robotics skill challenge that will be part of the 46th WorldSkills Competition – WorldSkills Shanghai – that was postponed and rescheduled for October 12-17th, 2022.

WorldSkills Online Mobile Robotics ChallengeThe challenge was designed to help competitors build a better understanding of autonomous mobile robotics technology.  It was based on the Waste Management Autonomous Robot Challenge that was adopted by many countries as their rescheduled 2021 challenge. Unlike previous competitions, this challenge has teams using the Studica Titan Quad Motor Controller and/or the VMX Robotics Controller where they had the options to program in C++, Java, Python, ROS, or LabVIEW. The participants were tasked with building an autonomous robot that could navigate areas, locate specific waste materials. Then the robot needed to deliver and dispose of that materials at the water management disposal site.

Online Mobile Robotics Challenge Results

A total of 17 teams from all around the world participated in the WorldSkills International Online Mobile Robotics Skill Challenge. One 12 teams of the teams were able to complete the final four days of challenges. Here are the top three teams:

  1. The Gold Medal was awarded to the International Center of IT & Communication System team from Kazan, Russia. The Chief Expert on the team was Damira Ramazanova. The Team consisted of Eldar Seydametov and Vladislav Diubanov. Their final score was 792.
  2. The Silver Medal was awarded to the Chun-I Senior High School team from Miaoli County in Chinese Taipei. The Chief Expert on the team was Chia-Nan Ko. The Team consisted of Hao-Chun Chang and Yi-Feng Lin. Their final score was 774.
  3. The Bronze Medal was awarded to the Samsung Electronics team from Yeongtong-gu in South Korea. The Chief Expert on the team was Kong Yongsun. The Team consisted of Gwak Hanho and Kwak Youngseo. Their final score was 770.
