Autodesk products help to shape much of the built world- from buildings, roads, utilities, and entire cities, to cars, electronics, packaging, and shoes. Now, the curriculum incorporates economical and plant saving concepts.

Both of these competitions provide a great opportunity for students who want to get a foot into the industry and who feel they have what it takes to be a great artist. These kinds of competitions are a great experience for students and the opportunities they present are priceless. If you’re a teacher and have students who do some outstanding work; encourage them to submit to these competitions.

We recently had the pleasure to attend a few local technology education trade shows as an exhibitor. Both, the NYSETA (New York State Engineering Technology Association) at Erie Community College in Buffalo, and the NYSTEEA (New York State Technology and Engineering Educator’s Association) at SUNY Oswego were opportunities to meet with our customers face-to-face and introduce ourselves to new contacts.

Autodesk announced a collection of web-based capabilities called Autodesk Cloud. For those of you not familiar with Cloud Computing, it’s based on Internet protocols, and often involves virtualized resources. End-users access software, storage space or services via a web browser, without needing to understand the IT infrastructure or purchase expensive hardware required.

In my view, there are three main things that we can do to make manufacturing cool again. In a technology-drive world, I think coupling technology and education in a fun environment will be critical to reconnecting youth to manufacturing.
