WorldSkills Mobile Robotics Robot CompetitorIt was an absolute pleasure to see teams from around the world compete in the Mobile Robotics skill competition at WorldSkills Kazan. Mobile robotics competitors must use logic, computer programming, and microprocessors to be successful. They also must create specifications for their robot’s capabilities, test effectiveness, and maintain quality control.

Kudos to all the competitors! You should be proud of your performance. It was impressive that each was so well prepared and ready to compete. The event itself was quite the battle. Mobile Robotics Competition Results

WorldSkills Mobile Robotics WinnersIn the end, after a very close competition, the Gold was awarded to China. The China team consisted of Gengjun Hu and Qiyuan Zheng. Together, they earned an impressive 763 points! In a very close second, Korea was awarded the silver medal with 760 points. Russia received the bronze with 757 points.

In addition to the medals, ten teams were awarded Medallions of Excellence. These teams include Japan, Macau – China, Chinese Taipei, Brazil, Portugal, Austria, Hong Kong, India, Canada, and Singapore. We congratulate all the teams and competitors for making such an impressive effort at the event and being successful in creating their robots to perform their given task. View complete results.

As a WorldSkills Global Partner for Mobile Robotics, Studica was represented by Frank Nanfara and Derek Murphy at this event. One of Studica’s major responsibilities is to develop the authorized WorldSkills Mobile Robotics Competition Collection. Continual effort is put into evaluating the effectiveness of the collection and searching for ways to improve it. Studica also assists in the development of the Mobile Robotics skill to industry standards.

The Competition Collection

WorldSkills Mobile Robotics Collection 2019The WorldSkills Mobile Robotics Collection is exclusively available at Studica. Since the 2015 event in São Paulo, Studica has continually improved and made adjustments to this collection. We observe the events, welcome feedback from teams, and take into consideration the demands of each year’s competition. Observing the Mobile Robotics competition at Kazan has provided us additional inspiration on new ways we can adjust and make even greater improvements moving forward.

The collection also provides training material and can also be used in the classroom to teach robotics and controls using LabVIEWAdditional add-on component items including track drive systems, wheel packs, structural packs, mecannum wheels, and all-terrain wheels are also available. These items are fully compatible with the build system and can be found at Studica’s WorldSkills web store.
