The Lewiston-Porter Central District in New York has achieved great success in their STEAM fundraising efforts. We are sharing this story to both congratulate them and to share their ideas with other schools. The Parent Teacher Student Association did a wonderful job raising funds to help enhance their STEAM programs. (STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, ART, and math. It enhances regular STEM education with the addition of art.)

The PSTA held a Fun Run that raised nearly $30,000. With the help of our own Jim Sheehan, the district was able to secure a grant from Dremel and Studica for 3D printers and supplies. As an Education Consultant at Studica, Jim understood what a crucial role 3D printing can have in STEAM programs. He presented this information, got the PTSA excited about it, and helped secure funding. The district was also awarded a STEM grant from the Toshiba America Foundation.
