Students Prepare for WorldSkills Kazan 2019

WorldSkills Kazan brandpic-mascotStudents from all around the world are preparing for the 45th WorldSkills Competition. This event is held every two years with the goal of bringing attention to skilled professional education and its importance in bringing about economic and social transformation. Kazan, Russia will be hosting this event that is scheduled for August 22nd – 27th at the KAZAN EXPO International Exhibition Centre.

Over 60 countries will be represented with over 1,600 competitors and 1,500 skill experts. WorldSkills gives government, industry, and education leaders from around the globe the opportunity to network, share information and refine best practices targeted towards professional education and industry.

WorldSkills Kazan – Skills Competitions

WorldSkills allows competitors to demonstrate their competence, vocational training, and education. Since there are 56 skills represented, they have been categorized into six major sectors.

  1. WorldSkills Mobile RoboticsManufacturing and Engineering Technology: This sector boasts the largest number of skill competitions. There are 16 skills assigned to this section. Our favorite, of course, is Mobile Robotics. (Studica is a Global Partner and exclusive supplier for Mobile Robotics.) Topics also include CNC milling, chemical laboratory technology, electronics, mechatronics, welding, plastic die engineering, and more.
  2. Construction and Building Technology: This is the second largest sector, it is comprised of 13 skills competitions. Skills addressed include carpentry, bricklaying, landscape gardening, cabinetmaking, joinery, architectural stonemasonry, and more.
  3. Creative Arts and Fashion: There are six skill competitions in this sector. Topics include 3D digital game art, floristry, graphic design technology, visual merchandising, jewelry, and fashion technology.
  4. WorldSkills Skill CompetitionsInformation and Communication Technology: Seven skill competitions are assigned to this sector. They include web technologies, cloud computing, cybersecurity, IT software solutions for business, information network cabling, IT network systems administration, and print media technology.
  5. Social and Personal Services: Eight skills are housed within this sector. They include hotel reception, bakery, cooking, hairdressing, restaurant service, beauty therapy, pâtisserie and confectionery, as well as health and social care.
  6. Transportation and Logistics:  Last but certainly not least, this sector includes six skills. They are car painting, aircraft maintenance, freight forwarding, autobody repair, heavy vehicle technology, and automobile technology.
