About Studica Robotics
Studica Robotics offers a diverse range of durable, strong, and safe structure and motion components, electronics, hardware, and building kits. Our versatile robotics building system is based on aluminum channels, bearings, gears, and precision shafts, empowering your robot with cutting-edge capabilities. We also offer a wide variety of compliant wheels (flex wheels). Find out how you can enhance your robot’s intake system with these wheels below.
Enhancing Robotic Intake Systems with Compliant Wheels
Compliant wheels play an important role in the design and functionality of intake systems and conveyors for robotics. Choosing the wheel with the right type of material properties is essential for performance. Harder wheels are better for softer materials. Softer wheels are better suited to more rigid materials due to their flexibility.
Studica Robotics offers a wide variety of compliant wheels (flex wheels). These wheels are made from a TPU Polyurethane with different degrees of hardness and flexibility. We offer 100mm and 50mm compliant wheels available in 35A, 40A, 50A, and 60A durometers. The ½” Inner Hex Hub, a common bore size in FRC (FIRST® Robotics Competition), enhances compatibility with different shaft sizes and types. The versatility of wheel options allows for adaptability in a variety of robotics builds.
Modify your Compliant Wheel for Better Intake
There are times when there are multiple-sized objects you need to intake for your robot. In these cases, a simple flex wheel doesn’t do the job. Studica Robotics flex wheels can be modified to intake objects better. Cut off the top edges of the wheel so it becomes star-shaped This gives the wheel a star shape that flexes even more onto objects making it much easier to intake different-sized elements.
